I love frost patterns and have been fascinated with them since I was a small child.
Dave Bonta: Me too. We lived in central Maine until I was five - great frost patterns on the windows there!

This is a splendid picture and your composition works beautifully.
I believe it would be just as fine in a square format, don't you think?
Dave Bonta: Probably so. An earlier version of this shot was cropped close to square, centered on the sticks in the upper part of this crop. My main reason for changing that was to concentrate on the focal center of the original shot; the ice toward the top isn't as sharp. And one does want ice to be sharp!
