Dave Bonta: Thanks. The photoblog format here is really prompting me to take another look and have another go at processing some of my pictures from 2006 and 2007. Previously, my orientation was almost entirely toward what would fit in the 425 pixel-wide column of Via Neg.
This is so beautiful. I like that I can see a hint of something through the window. This photograph hints at what is there beyond the handprint (a person perhaps, almost visable, but I am not sure and like it that I am not sure) and why the person who left that handprint there, did.
I wonder how this would be as a B&W and bet you've already given that a try.
Re:sunrises boring you. I am not a fan of them usually in photographs because it is so hard to capture their beauty in one still image. Best to set the camera aside and just enjoy them.
Monochrome might work with this image... but then it would be a different image entirely. I mean, I'd have to try thinking about it in a completely different way.
Re: sunrises, yes, I suppose it is the incommensurablity of the image with the reality that often makes such images seem hollow and clichéd.
