I just ran across this. Beautiful nuanced colors in the wood. Very fine.
Dave Bonta: the barn always looks its best in winter. The red is from the original paint/stain after it was built 100 years ago. My parents want to have the barn repainted (white); I can't convince them to let it keep weathering. I am increasingly fascinated by aging.

The weathering is much more beautiful than fresh paint would be. Aging and the encroachment of its effects fascinate me too, and I see much more beauty in shabbiness than in newness.
