Every year when we take down the Christmas tree after New Year's, we put it below the bird feeding station to serve as a shelter for the birds against hawks and bad weather. Even after the old trees lose their needles, they still have some value as a temporary shelter.

Cool, mysterious textures. So lively are the dead!
